Wolf. Finland / April 2023
A young wolf stands on frozen ground near the Finnish–Russian border, its alert gaze meeting my camera. In the studio, I added flames to this quiet winter scene. For me, they evoke the tensions surrounding the wolf’s return and its encounters with livestock farming. The border setting also brings human conflict into the picture. I wanted to hold these tensions alongside the presence of the animal itself.
