Steller’s sea eagles. Hokkaido, Japan / February 2024
A Steller's sea eagle soars above the pack ice, ready for its next hunt. The thin layer of ice added in the studio is reminiscent of the fragile arrival of pack ice on the coast of Hokkaido. This phenomenon, which is as fragile as it is vital, is crucial for these majestic birds of prey. Without pack ice, they would have difficulty fishing in waters that are still rich in fish. The image serves as a visualization and reminds us how environmental changes affect the entire food chain.
